This fund, established in 2007, supports efforts to create a permanent community stable and riding facilities for the Mackinac Horsemen's Association and 4-H programs on Mackinac Island.
The Mackinac Community Stable Committee (MCSC), designated by the Mackinac Horsemen's Association (MHA) and formed in July of 2004, is working with community members and the Mackinac State Historic Parks to designate a location and secure funds for this important community resource. The committee consists of a diverse group of individuals from the Mackinac Island community. Many of the committee members have a long history of involvement in equine animal care and equestrian activities.
The MHA and MCSC are committed to the establishment of a community stable with the intent to promote and preserve the unique and historic equine animal culture of Mackinac Island. This community stable shall also provide the environment to educate future generations of Michigan youth and citizens in equestrian training and equine understanding.
The new community stable is currently being built on land leased from the Mackinac Island State Park across from Wawashkamo Golf Course. The MHA appreciates all donations in support of this project.
