Thanks to all who supported the 2004 MICF fundraiser, Turtles Around Town.

Funds > Rainy Day Fund

Clouds Over MackinacFor those times when life throws us a curve, the Rainy Day Fund may help. Its purpose is to help people on Mackinac deal with sudden emergencies related to natural disasters or extreme illness. Jeanie and John Shufelt started this fund with a gift in 1999.

Like all funds of the Foundation, grants are made to non-profits serving Mackinac’s residents and visitors. However, unlike other funds of the Foundation, the Rainy Day Fund will make grants outside of the normal grant cycles. Currently, the medical center, school and three churches administer emergency assistance funds for short-term needs on Mackinac. Rainy Day fund grants have supported these funds.
