Note: Each artist submitted a proposal for the design of his/her turtle. Every artist received the same turtle shape. The artist painted, sculpted or adorned the turtle using any media; however, the structural integrity of the turtle was maintained.

Artist Selection

The Turtles Around Town artistic review committee reviewed all proposals for compliance with the project guidelines.

This committee then determined the number of proposals presented to the sponsors. Sponsors were given the opportunity to select the design of their choice from the collection.

Several of Mackinac's established painters have agreed to paint turtles. Sponsors could agree to work with an artist or select from the designs submitted.
