I am
one of a multitude of foreign workers on Mackinac
Island and this project allows me to represent Scots
on the Island. The tartan featured on the "Tartle's"
shell is that of original Scottish visitor, Patrick
Sinclair. The head will be decorated with blue "woad,"
a warpaint depicted most recently in the film "Braveheart."
A plaster of Paris "tammy" (bonnet) will be added
to complete the effect.

With the Island's history of Scottish heritage,
from Patrick Sinclair to Wawashkamo Scottish Links
Golf Course to the present day Island employees working
at most Island properties, I feel that this depiction
will be humorous, historical, and relevant to today's
image of Mackinac Island!
