Mackinac College Legacy Fund Holds
Community Open House
Former students and teachers of the Mackinac College held a Community Open House on Friday, October 20, 2006 at the Community Hall. Eighty people representing the College and Community were in attendance and enjoyed socializing and getting reacquainted. The Highlight of the evening was viewing the recruiting video produced by the College Students in 1966. The event served as a kick off to a weekend reunion held to celebrate the 40th inaugural of combined efforts of the College alumni to honor the Mackinac College motto: "To Learn. To Live. To Lead." Grants from the fund support educational and environmental issues on Mackinac Island.
In addition to the weekend celebration, donors to the fund have been working toward fulfilling a challenge made by a classmate to match a $10,000 gift. At the end of the reunion, $14,677.12 was raised for the Mackinac College Legacy Fund. Students and Community were in attendance and enjoyed socializing and getting reacquainted.
